Restaurant Feature Wall Fabrication & Installation
Shea engaged Evergreen Creative to fabricate and install a full-length feature wall to warm the dining room and create a subtle focal point behind a run of banquettes. Our task was to translate the design intent into a durable, buildable wall system that reads handcrafted up close and cohesive from across the room.
Under track lighting, the wall’s staggered horizontal courses catch light along their natural edges, producing soft shadow lines that add depth without visual noise. The result is an inviting backdrop that supports conversation and dining—present, but never distracting.
Key fabrication components included:
Custom horizontal plank cladding with intentionally varied edges and reveals
Panelized sections for efficient handling and rapid alignment on a long continuous run
Consistent reveal strategy tuned to track-light hot spots for an even shadow rhythm
Field-fit terminations at returns, door openings, and soffits to preserve clean sightlines
Hospitality-grade finish for warmth, cleanability, and service durability
Planks were milled and finished to preserve grain and organic edge character, then assembled into installable panels sized for safe, fast placement in an active store. Substrate prep and concealed fastening prevented telegraphing through the finish and locked in uniform gaps between courses. The system delivers the tactile quality of rough-sawn lumber with the dimensional consistency required for a long, high-use wall.
The feature wall establishes a continuous visual identity for the dining room, elevates perceived warmth, and photographs well under directional lighting. It has performed reliably in daily service—an example of how thoughtful fabrication can turn a simple material palette into a signature element for hospitality environments.
