WNBA Hall of Fame Exterior Theming

LOCATION

Knoxville TN

When the Women’s National Basketball Hall of Fame wanted a statement piece to crown their building in Knoxville, they weren’t thinking small. Evergreen Creative was brought in to design, fabricate, and install what would become an unforgettable icon: a massive rooftop basketball sculpture that’s equal parts symbol and spectacle. It needed to spark curiosity, celebrate the sport, and be visible from blocks away—so we built a giant.

This wasn’t just a big build—it was an impossible one, according to more than a few skeptics. Knoxville’s climate demanded engineering that could withstand both hurricane-force winds and winter snow loads, and the basketball’s base had to match the curvature of the building’s dome perfectly. We recreated a replica of the rooftop in our shop to shape the base precisely, then fabricated the massive sphere in sections, delivering it across three full truckloads. The scale was jaw-dropping, the skins were enormous, and the installation was broadcast live on ESPN—adding another layer of coordination as our team managed media presence alongside a tightly orchestrated rigging plan.

The result? A head-turning monument to basketball and women in sports. While a fresh coat of paint in 2018 may have removed the original “Buden” logo featured on the structure, it continues to command attention over two decades later.
