Rainforest Cafe Nationwide Rollout

In 1994, a brand-new restaurant concept approached Evergreen Creative with an unforgettable challenge: design and fabricate floor-to-ceiling mushroom structures that looked straight out of a storybook—and actually build them. The Rainforest Cafe was still in its infancy, preparing for its national debut, and needed immersive, theatrical pieces that would transport guests into a lush, animated jungle. When we delivered the first towering mushrooms and saw the room erupt into applause, we knew something big had just begun.
Evergreen's work quickly expanded beyond the mushrooms. What started as a one-off sculptural request evolved into a long-term fabrication partnership that powered Rainforest Cafe's national rollout. We created molds for mass-producing the massive mushrooms, and developed a scalable production process that supported openings at a pace of roughly eight stores per year. From fruit-wrapped poles to animal sculptures, signage, and environmental elements, our studio became the go-to source for the immersive theming that defined the Rainforest experience.
Behind the scenes, this project demanded just as much structure as spectacle. We built out internal systems for repeatable quality control, ensured each piece met code and safety requirements, and coordinated tight install windows that required us to bring in finishing touches only after all other trades had cleared out. It was a defining moment for Evergreen—a bold leap into large-scale themed environments, and a turning point that helped establish our reputation for making the impossible, possible.
