Dead Sea Scrolls Traveling Exhibit
LOCATION ◦ MULTIPLE LOCATIONS
Evergreen Creative was selected to fabricate key travelling exhibit components for the Dead Sea Scrolls
A high-profile museum tour built around the preservation and presentation of one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the 20th century. The project called for a balance of technical accuracy, visual design integration, and artifact conservation with the added complexity of mobility.
1. Climate-Controlled Artifact Display Cases
We engineered and fabricated specialized cases designed to maintain consistent temperature and humidity levels that are critical for protecting fragile scroll fragments and related artifacts from environmental damage. These cases also allowed for secure transport between venues while adhering to strict conservation guidelines typically required for traveling exhibitions of this kind (generally below 20°C and 50% humidity).
2. Modular Gallery Walls
The exhibit space featured modular, movable wall sections that locked into place to create a seamless, immersive layout. Though temporary by design, these walls provided the visual and structural feel of a permanent installation, while remaining lightweight and easy to reconfigure across different venues and floorplans.
Exhibits of this nature follow rigorous standards: scrolls are often displayed for no more than three months before being rotated out and stored in darkness for several years. Lighting levels, artifact security, and airtight casework are all taken into consideration. Evergreen’s fabrication work supported these standards through material selection, controlled integration of environmental systems, and logistical forethought for frequent assembly and disassembly.
The resulting installation met all artifact preservation requirements while allowing for efficient touring across multiple institutions. Our build contributed to the successful presentation of ancient texts to modern audiences, helping preserve, transport, and showcase history with care.
